The purpose is to use music to comfort those who left us, and to remind the world not to forget these tragedies, in order to prevent them happening again in the future.
The program will have two parts; the first one is candle lighting with a musical performance. East Meets West Music Arts will present several chamber pieces by Schumann, Rachmaninoff and Samuel Barber, and also a choral work by Fengshi Yang and Cheyo Wang. The second part is a lecture. The two guest speakers are: Mr. Wenqian Gao, from New York, the author of "Later Life of Chou En-Lai", and Mr. Yongyi Song, from Los Angles, the Chief-Editor of "The Culture Revolution" Database. The lecture part will be mainly conducted in Chinese, however, a brief English translation in writing will be provided.
